Hi, thanks for checking out the site! For those of you who are interested, I figured I’d share a little bit of information about myself here.

My name is Han Chang and I have a 5 year old Scottish Terrier named Apple. We live in a big apartment complex that’s dog-friendly. She’s the most well behaved dog until she’s alone and someone rings the doorbell – then she barks nonstop until she’s hoarse or I get home. Unfortunately that makes the neighbors very irritated, and they’ve called the cops more than once on her, which was unpleasant to say the least.

Me and AppleSo we needed to find a solution to get her to stop barking. I didn’t want to use the electric shock collars because they seem quite inhumane. The ultrasonic devices didn’t seem much better and I read that they don’t work.

I’m actually a huge supporter of Dove Cresswell’s clicker training using positive reinforcement, but my career keeps me really busy right now so I don’t have the time to train Apple the right way, otherwise I’d much prefer that.

So, I decided on a citronella dog collar. It’s a training collar that sprays a mist of harmless, all natural citronella whenever the dog wearing it barks. They stop barking because of the surprise spray and unpleasant odor, and learn to not bark. It’s quite effective and now I can have peace of mind when I leave Apple alone in the apartment.

I figured I’d spread the message about these great dog training devices so that other people with the same problem can get their dogs to stop barking, too.
